Technology: Singapore to host forum on technology, teaching, learning

Teaching and Learning with Technology Focus of Inaugural International Conference Organized by ISTE and Singapore's Ministry of Education

Singapore - An estimated 2,000 education leaders, education researchers, classroom practitioners and industry leaders from throughout the Asia-Pacific Region and around the world will gather at Suntec, Singapore August 5-6, for the inaugural International Conference on Teaching and Learning with Technology (iCTLT).

The conference is jointly organized by the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE(r) and Singapore's Ministry of Education.

ISTE also presents the annual National Educational Computing Conference in the U.S., which is the world's premier educational technology conference. iCTLT 2008 will focus on teaching and learning practices for engaging, effective digital-age education.

According to Don Knezek, chief executive officer of ISTE and co-chair of iCTLT, the conference offers participants an extraordinary opportunity.

"With its three themes of learning, leading and innovating, this conference represents a tremendous opportunity for educators to share with, learn from and inspire their peers from around the globe in the realm of educational technology," he says.

iCTLT will feature the following keynote speakers: Sir Ken Robinson, Ph.D., an internationally recognized leader in developing creativity and innovation, has worked with national governments in Europe and Asia, Fortune 500 companies and the world's leading cultural organizations.

President and CEO of the Metiri Group, Cheryl Lemke specializes in public policy for K-12 learning technology.
Mitchel Resnick, LEGO Papert Professor of Learning Research at the MIT Media Lab, develops technologies to engage people in creative learning.

Resnick co-founded the Computer Clubhouse project, an international network of after-school learning centers for low-income youth.
