Eurail passenger growth positive, setting new record

Utrecht, (ANTARA News/PRNewswire-AsiaNet) - The Eurail Group, owner of the popular Eurail Pass for European rail travel, has announced a 5% increase in passenger numbers for 2007, notwithstanding forecasts of a lukewarm year for the travel industry. Passenger numbers exceeded 468,000 for the year, setting a new record since sales began nearly fifty years ago.

Changing travel behavior has impacted Eurail's sales. Overseas visitors are becoming more sophisticated, and their desire to visit as much of Europe as possible has been replaced by a wish to explore just one or two selected destinations. Eurail has been very active in adapting its product range to meet these customers' expectations, resulting in booming sales of one- and two-country passes. With the addition of the very popular Eurail Italy Pass in 2007, sales of single country passes have sky-rocketed by nearly 500% and now account for 16% of all Eurail's sales (compared to a mere 3% in 2006).

This shift in buying behavior and the subsequent adaptation of the Eurail Group's sales strategy has kept revenues stable at 119 million euros. Nevertheless, Eurail's classic products, the Eurail Global Pass (covering 20 countries) and the Eurail Select Pass (valid in any three, four or five adjoining countries) continue to remain popular, accounting for 62% of Eurail's sales.

While continued growth is anticipated, the Eurail Group remains cautious. Today's global travel and tourism market faces many challenges including the economic downturn in the United States, Eurail's key market with over 50% of the market share. This, coupled with the depreciating dollar and the fact that the US is in an election year, means that more modest passenger growth, of around 3%, is expected for 2008.

In order to ensure that its products continue to remain attractive and available to customers worldwide, the Eurail Group is making efforts to further expand its product range and widen its distribution network. This year has seen the addition of seven brand new pass offerings and two new countries added to the Eurail Global Pass, as well as the introduction of sales via a new global sales agent, STA Travel.

The Eurail Group offers a wide range of passes from single country options to the classic Eurail Global Pass, valid in 20 countries. For more information about the Eurail Group, go to www.EurailGroup.com. Eurail Passes are currently available from the direct sales website, www.Eurail.com, and all sales agents worldwide; ACP Rail International (www.eurail-acprail.com); Flight Centre (www.flightcentre.com); www.OctopusTravel.com; Rail Europe (North America: www.raileurope.com, rest of the world: www.raileurope.fr), and STA Travel (www.statravel.com).

Dubai World launches Chinese Website

Dubai, (ANTARA News/PRNewswire-AsiaNet) - Dubai World, one of the world's largest holding companies, announced today the launch of its Chinese website in connection with the visit of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to China.

The website (www.dubaiworldchina.cn) in Mandarin language provides comprehensive details on the group and its subsidiary companies.

The launch of the Chinese version of the website is aimed at presenting Dubai World to the Chinese people, giving them a clear picture of the group's vast and diverse investment interests.

A high level delegation of business leaders, including HE Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Chairman of Dubai World, is accompanying Sheikh Mohammed on the visit.

The timely launch of the website indicates the significance of China to Dubai World, and the company's commitment to the world's fastest growing economy. Recent figures released by Dubai World's Statistics Centre showed that non-oil trade between the two countries increased from AED 48.4 billion (around $13.18 billion) in 2006 to AED 71.2 billion (around $19.4 billion) in 2007.

Mr. Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Chairman of Dubai World, commenting on the visit, said: "This visit will further enhance the cooperation and economic ties and the existing strong relations between the UAE and China and will help build long-term business commitments."

"The UAE and China are strategic trade partners. Dubai, the largest market for Chinese exports in the Middle East, is the Commercial Gateway to the region. For Dubai World, which is one of the major UAE investors in China, the Chinese market represents an important investment destination; especially that China's economy is forecast to grow at an annual average rate of 8% from 2006 to 2010."

Farid Mohammed Ahmed, Secretary General, Dubai World, said that the launch of the Chinese website highlights the importance of Sheikh Mohammed's visit.

"The visit to China by Sheikh Mohammed is an important event for Dubai World since we have major investment focus on that country. DP World, the global marine terminal operator, has its projects in China. Istithmar, Tejari, and Limitless, also, have presence there and are looking to expand operations.

"China is a huge market with immense investment potential. The country is also one of the biggest trade partners of Dubai. Sheikh Mohammed's visit will add new vigour to the bilateral relations between the two countries."

DP World currently operates five marine terminals in China - ACT and CT3 in Hong Kong, DP World Yantai, Qianwan Container Terminal and Tianjin Orient Container Terminals. CT3 was rated the best terminal in the under 4 million TEU (twenty foot equivalent container units) category in the Asia Freight & Supply Chain Award in 2007.

China's economy is fast growing, and a crucial factor in its continued growth is the country's port infrastructure. The Qingdao port complements DP World's existing presence in the Bohai Basin ports of Tianjin and Yantai.

About Dubai World:

Dubai World is Dubai's global investment flag bearer focusing on four strategic growth areas: Transport & Logistics, Drydocks & Maritime, Urban Development and Investment & Financial Services.

Atlas Copco sets new industry standard for energy efficiency

Antwerp, (ANTARA News/PRNewswire-AsiaNet) - Atlas Copco has yet again proven its world leadership in air-compressor manufacturing with the introduction of the new GA range of oil-injected compressors. Every component in the new GA range has been carefully evaluated and designed to provide Atlas Copco's customers with a product offering the highest levels of reliability and energy efficiency.

"This new range of GA+ oil-injected compressors is the result of continuous investments in product development and it will further strengthen our leadership in compressor technology," explains Ronnie Leten, President of Atlas Copco's Compressor Technique Business Area.

"The company's drive for energy efficiency while keeping environmental protection and climate change issues in mind has resulted in a completely new range of compressors in line with Atlas Copco's vision."

Atlas Copco has a long history of understanding customers' main concern: Maximising production in a superior and highly-efficient manner. To meet these needs, Atlas Copco focuses on eliminating production downtime and minimising the cost of each cubic meter of compressed air produced.

Full-featured products, integrated Variable Speed Drive (VSD) and the development of customised solutions are only a few examples of innovations that meet or exceed individual requirements for reliability, air quality and energy efficiency.

Energy efficiency in the new GA range is achieved through, among other things, state-of-the-art compression elements based on Atlas Copco's patented asymmetric rotor profiles, which drastically reduce volumetric losses. Through the optimisation of oil injection, flow and temperature, the compression process is kept at the coolest possible temperature, thereby minimising thermodynamic losses.

"However," says Paulo Pereira, GA product manager at Atlas Copco, "the most efficient compressor package goes beyond simply having an efficient screw element. For instance, it is also crucial to optimise all the elements around the core component. In the development process of the new GA, we made substantial efforts to reduce all types of losses, whether flow-related, mechanical or electrical. The latest design techniques such as Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis were used to meet these objectives."

Other design features to further reduce energy consumption include the use of radial fans with VSD regulation, high-efficiency motors and no-loss drains.

Extra energy-saving options such as an integrated energy recovery system and/or VSD for the main motor can provide even greater benefits.

In tandem with its new GA compressors and once again as the result of continuous efforts to improve its core products, Atlas Copco has also developed a new range of integrated and stand-alone refrigerant dryers with energy saving features such as "Saver Cycle Control" and highly-efficient heat exchangers with minimal pressure drops.

With all these features, Atlas Copco offers its customers the best-in- class efficiency for their compressed air systems.

Reliability is assured in particular thanks to Atlas Copco's in-house designed asymmetric screw rotor profiles, which ensure minimum wear, as well as to carefully-selected bearings.

Furthermore, the robust and compact design of the new GA ensures continuous operation under the most demanding conditions, such as ambient temperatures of up to 55 degrees C 131 degrees F and in dusty environments. These features dramatically increase component and unit lifetime.

Air quality is provided by two key elements: A highly-efficient oil removal system to give minimum residual oil content in the outlet air and state-of-the-art refrigerant dryers which are available in both integrated and stand-alone versions. Finally, great attention has been paid to integration.

All components have been optimally integrated to reduce floor space and simplify connections. The new GA Full Feature with integrated refrigerant dryer and air filter ensures the continuous supply of clean and dry air to extend the life of equipment, enhance system reliability and avoid costly downtime and production delays.

Chris Lybaert, Divisional President, states with confidence: "This new GA series sets the new standards in oil injected compressors and will ensure the company's pre-eminent position in this field."

Atlas Copco is the leading compressed air consultant expert and helps its customers streamline and fully optimise their compressed air needs through targeted analysis and custom installations. With the new GA range, fields as varied as the cement, glass, mining and tire manufacturing industries can benefit from unrivalled energy efficiency, reliability and air quality.

Atlas Copco is a world leading provider of industrial productivity solutions. The products and services range from compressed air and gas equipment, generators, construction and mining equipment, industrial tools and assembly systems, to related aftermarket and rental.

In close cooperation with customers and business partners, and with 135 years of experience, Atlas Copco innovates for superior productivity. Headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, the Group's global reach spans more than 160 markets. In 2007, Atlas Copco had 33,000 employees and revenues of BSEK 63 (BEUR 6.7). Learn more at http://www.atlascopco.com

Oil-free Air is a division within Atlas Copco's Compressor Technique business area. It develops, manufactures, and markets oil-free air compressors for all kind of industries worldwide where the air quality is vital, and oil-injected compressors for less critical applications. The division focuses on air optimisation systems and quality air solutions to further improve customers' productivity. The divisional headquarters and main production centre are located in Antwerp, Belgium.

DBI unveils Oracle performance tool suite

Austin, Texas, (ANTARA News/PRNewswire-AsiaNet) - Database-Brothers, Inc. (DBI) today introduced new performance tuning and space management tools for Oracle environments: Brother-Owl(TM) for SQL tuning, Brother-Wolf(TM) for space management, and Brother-Eagle(TM) Enterprise Edition for real-time performance monitoring.

The new tools provide DBAs with greater insight into performance problems while proactively resolving issues for optimal business availability.

"If you have IBM PE, Oracle EPM, BMC, Quest, Symantec I3, Embarcadero, or any other tools, or are evaluating Performance Management tools, make sure DBI is on your short list. With the ability to name your own price and terms, and superior analytics and results, DBI is the clear price, performance, and value leader. We are so confident that we can help you improve your business, we guarantee it," said Scott Hayes, President & CEO, DBI.

"Otherwise, DBI will make a charitable donation in your name to the non-profit charity of your choice," added Hayes. See DBI web site for details.

Brother-Wolf(TM) DBAs are responsible for ensuring optimal availability and performance of database operations with minimal downtime. One of the primary methods to achieve performance improvements is to perform database reorganizations on business-critical databases. Because many of the traditional methods for performing database reorganizations require all or part of the application to be shut down during the process, too often reorganizations are not performed.

Brother-Wolf provides DBAs with a simple navigation from problem detection and isolation to corrective solutions via a single interface. Now DBAs can integrate automated management of their Oracle environment. Brother-Wolf's automated monitoring and intelligent storage management allows DBAs to provide application and database integrity with high-speed online reorganization capabilities.

Brother-Owl(TM) Businesses rely upon the quality, productivity, and performance of applications and their associated databases. Downtime and poor performance can quickly bring a business to a grinding halt. With recent IT cutbacks, DBAs don't have time for tuning databases and due to recent security concerns, cannot rewrite application SQL. The traditional fix, or patch, for performance problems was to continually throw expensive and unnecessary hardware upgrades at the system.

Brother-Owl analyzes and tunes entire application's SQL, on both the development and implementation sides of business. It also leverages the Index Advisor to look at objects and recommend actions for Indexes. In short, Brother-Owl is the cross-disciplinary tool an organization needs for application success without the impact to an application's availability. Both DBAs and application developers can benefit from its ability to pre-empt many tuning issues as well as point out the database objects that can use post- implementation tuning.

Brother-Eagle(TM) Enterprise Edition

When databases aren't performing optimally they have a significant impact on a business. As the number of databases increase, locating the cause of performance issues becomes that much more complicated. Brother-Eagle(TM) soars high above your organization searching for opportunities that warrant in-depth attention, summarizing the performance characteristics of your Oracle databases in a single, easy to read, customizable, scrolling "stock ticker." Each performance metric has online expert advice and performance tips.

If there is a database problem, poor performance, or inefficiency anywhere in your IT organization, Brother-Eagle(TM) will find it and bring it to your attention.

Protecting Investments

It doesn't matter whether end-users are complaining about the custom- developed application rolled out last year or the new CRM system you've just implemented, the bottom line is that your DBA and development teams need to protect the application's value to the business. DBI's performance tuning and space management tools for your Oracle environment are the tools to protect those critical applications and investments.

To learn how DBI can improve your database performance, as well as how they can help save your organization time and money, contact DBI today or visit them on the web at www.dbisoftware.com. Or even better, tell them what you think these tools are worth to your organization at www.softwarepricedright.com.

ADT supports University of Arkansas research testing

Boca Raton, Florida, (ANTARA News/Xinhua-PRNewswire-AsiaNet) - ADT announces its support of a landmark study by the University of Arkansas Information Technology Research Institute that tested and compared the effectiveness of both EAS (Electronic Article Surveillance) and RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) for perimeter theft protection in a retail environment.

"This research was important because we believe EAS and RFID are complementary technologies that can provide retailers with several approaches to preventing theft while improving operational efficiency, depending on their needs," said Stanley Kong, Vice President, ADT Retail Sales and Services for Asia.

"Many retailers can benefit from dual EAS-RFID functionality while others may require a sequential, layered approach," Stanley said. "Ultimately this research will help retailers develop strategies to guide their decisions about the most cost-effective way to deploy these technologies."

RFID is a 60-year-old technology that has been used outside the retail space for decades. Now, with the release of the Class 1, Generation 2 UHF protocol, RFID is emerging as an in-store application to streamline operations and inventory management.

Given ADT's extensive experience with RFID, it considers the apparel industry may be well-suited to be a natural early adopter of the technology because apparel is considered an RFID-friendly environment. In contrast, UHF RFID does not perform well on liquids, metallic packaging and many types of boxed goods. It also has practical drawbacks such as the cost and size of RFID tags, hang-tag integrity, and the cost of an RFID infrastructure in these applications.

ADT took part in the study based on its long experience of providing the world's leading retailers with apparel source tagging and EAS solutions from its Sensormatic(R) portfolio. In the most recent study, ADT worked with the University's researchers to set up systems, to confirm protocols and to support testing in diverse retail theft scenarios.

ADT has deployed RFID in a variety of applications including supply chain management, item-level apparel, and asset tracking. In fact, ADT's Sensormatic business unit operates two of the world's eight EPC global-certified RFID labs.

ADT's other retail offerings include fire and security protection as well as Sensormatic traffic-sensing and business analytics applications.

The University's research was sponsored by the Voluntary Interindustry Commerce Solutions (VICS) Association, a group of retailers and consumer-focused firms driving innovation and efficiencies in the retail supply chain.

Final data from the SEISMIC Trial suggest safety, efficacy

Chicago, Illinois, (ANTARA News/PRNewswire-AsiaNet) - Final six-month, follow-up patient data presented yesterday during the late-breaking clinical trial sessions at the American College of Cardiology, suggest MyoCell(R) myoblast clinical cell therapy is a safe and potentially effective alternative treatment to standard medical therapy alone for improving heart function among patients with previously implanted cardiac devices who are experiencing congestive heart failure.

The findings from the SEISMIC(1) Trial, a 40-patient, randomized, multicenter, controlled, Phase II-a study conducted in Europe, evaluated MyoCell myoblast clinical cell therapy delivered via the MyoCath(R), endoventricular needle-injection catheter in patients previously fitted with implanted cardiac defibrillators(ICDs), receiving standard medical therapy and who are experiencing congestive heart failure.

On admission to the trial, patients were randomized on a two-to-one ratio into the treatment versus control groups with 26 patients receiving MyoCell therapy and 14 patients in the control group. All patients were experiencing congestive heart failure and were previously fitted with ICDs and receiving standard medical therapy.

Both the MyoCell biologic therapy and the MyoCath needle-injection catheter, developed by Bioheart, Inc., are currently being studied as investigational products.

"The results from the SEISMIC trial are encouraging," said Prof. Patrick W. Serruys, MD, PhD, Principal Investigator and Chief, Department of Interventional Cardiology, Thoraxcenter, Erasmus Medical Center - Rotterdam, the Netherlands. "While the study was specifically designed to show safety, the findings also suggest positive trends in clinical benefits when evaluating the treated group versus the control group at six months."

Patients in both groups were evaluated at three- and six-month intervals using a variety of tests, including digital imaging and standard quality of life measurement such as the six-minute walking test, New York Heart Association (NYHA) heart failure classification and Minnesota Living with Heart (MLHF) questionnaire.

Final six-month results observed in the SEISMIC Trial include:

-- 84 per cent of treated patients experienced improved or unchanged six- minute walking test scores compared to 16 per cent of the control group - 69 per cent of the control group's results worsened, versus only 16 per cent of the treated group

-- 94 per cent of treated patients experienced improved or unchanged NYHA classification compared to 58 per cent of the control group - 42 per cent of the control group's results worsened, versus only 6 per cent of the treated group Prof.

Serruys also noted that reports of arrhythmia among the patients evaluated in SEISMIC, both in terms of total number of episodes as well as timing of episodes, were no different between the treatment and control arms in the study.

This suggests that MyoCell is not associated with a higher prevalence of arrhythmias; rather, that arrhythmias are an expected occurrence for this subset of heart failure
patients.

"These data support the need for a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study involving the MyoCell technology," said Prof. Serruys. "We look forward to applying our learning from this trial to the larger, more comprehensive MARVEL(2) Trial currently underway in the U.S. and Europe." The MARVEL Trial, a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, multi-center Phase II/III Trial involving 330 patients in North America and Europe, is the largest trial of its kind to date. Enrollment in the MARVEL Trial began in October 2007, targeting patients who fall into Class II or III heart failure.

The MARVEL Trial will further study the safety and efficacy of the minimally invasive MyoCell autologous stem-cell therapy in the treatment of congestive heart failure delivered via a MyoStar(TM) injection catheter(3), in combination with the NOGA(R) XP Cardiac Navigation System. The Principal Investigator for the MARVEL Trial is Warren Sherman, MD, Director, Cardiac Cell-based Endovascular Therapies, Columbia University Medical Center, New York.

ABOUT MYOCELL CLINICAL CELL THERAPY

MyoCell clinical cell therapy, developed by Bioheart, Inc., is currently being studied as an investigational product in Europe and the U.S. MyoCell clinical cell therapy is intended to be used to improve cardiac function months or even years after a patient has suffered severe heart damage due to a heart attack.

The procedure involves a physician removing a small amount of muscle obtained from the patient's thigh. From this muscle specimen, autologous myoblasts (muscle stem cells) are then isolated, grown using Bioheart's proprietary cell-culturing process, and injected directly into the scar tissue of the patient's heart.

The myoblast cells are delivered via an endoventricular needle-injection catheter during a minimally invasive procedure performed by an interventional cardiologist or vascular surgeon. The myoblast-based muscle formation in the newly populated regions of scar tissue are intended to improve cardiac function by helping the heart muscle beat more efficiently.

ABOUT HEART DISEASE

Approximately nine million European patients and 5.2 million Americans(4) suffer from congestive heart failure, a progressively degenerative condition in which the heart is unable to adequately pump blood throughout the body resulting in fluid accumulation in the lungs, kidneys, and other body tissues.

Patients suffering from this disease fatigue easily, and become increasingly less capable of normal activity as they progress through the various stages of the disease. Current standard of care typically involves drug therapy and/or the implantation of a pacemaker and/or defibrillator device to regulate heart function.

ABOUT BIOHEART, INC.

Bioheart, Inc. is a biotechnology company focused on the discovery, development and, subject to regulatory approval, commercialization of autologous cell therapies for the treatment of chronic and acute heart damage.

Its lead product candidate, MyoCell, is an innovative clinical cell therapy designed to populate regions of scar tissue within a patient's heart with autologous muscle cells, or cells from the patient's body, for the purpose of improving cardiac function in chronic heart failure patients. Photon Expo 2008: Germany`s PV industry secPhoton Expo 2008: Germany`s PV industry securing its positionuring its position

Munich, (ANTARA News/PRNewswire-AsiaNet) - By 2010 revenues from production of PV products will have nearly doubled in Germany and investment volumes will have increased by 67 per cent.

These are the assessments, based on surveys with 345 companies, of the research institutes Ifo in Munich and EuPD in Bonn.

The Photovoltaic Technology Show 2008 (April 2-4, 2008) is one of the world's leading PV trade fairs and Invest in Germany will be there to present Germany's advantages as a location for PV investment.

Germany is the world's largest PV market and its projected growth will secure this distinction. The organization PHOTON Consulting expects that by 2010 Germany will have over 6.5 Gigawatts (GW) of installed PV capacity, double the amount of any European competitor and the largest worldwide. Germany's increasing potential combined with growing worldwide demand means there are numerous possibilities for new entrants into the German market.

The principal market driver in Germany is the Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG in German) that establishes a "feed-in" tariff on power generated from renewable sources. This law is especially favorable to PV energy. Utility companies must purchase energy generated from PV facilities at a rate that is sometimes twice the standard rate paid by private households. This legislation is an incentive for property owners to purchase solar panels and creates domestic demand for PV products in Germany.

Furthermore, the EEG does not have a cap; there is no set limit to the amount of electricity that could be produced from PV sources and therefore benefit from the "feed-in" tariff. PV products also have growing export potential as interest in PV increases in other countries. The IFO and EuPD study predicts that sales coming from exports will increase from a current 37 per cent to 50 per cent by 2010.

Growing sales, quick and efficient approval processes, proximity to suppliers and R&D expertise, a qualified workforce, and government incentives are all reasons that PV companies, such as First Solar, Arise Technologies, Nanosolar, and many others are succeeding in Germany.
