Business: Seeking an Angel in Dubai and Beyond

New York (ANTARA News/PRNewswire-AsiaNet) - Mark Nejmeh, President, MagKinetics Inc. will travel to Dubai to seek an Angel for his development stage renewable energy company with their patent pending technology for "A system and method for creating electricity from moving vehicular traffic." MagKinetics has been patiently and thoroughly seeking a financially qualified and socially responsible investor or group and is now reaching out to the world community to bring this opportunity directly to such investors. The company is now arranging meetings in Dubai for their executive visit on April 21 - 23, 2008.

MagKinetics is initially seeking $10,000,000 US and will be seeking another $5,000,000 US within 7 to 9 months. The company is poised to literally change the world because their technology takes moving traffic (kinetic energy that is typically lost to the universe) and converts it into electricity. Absolutely no alteration to the vehicles is required. They intend to implement the technology worldwide in 18-24 months.

According to Nejmeh, "Clean energy and a clean environment is about man kind's survival. Responsible actions must be taken. Finding a group of investors that know that everything in life is about family across all cultures and all borders is important. If we are to add a new variable to the 'Peak Oil Theory,' eliminate green house gases, and take energy out of the peace formula, we must do it with passionate investors who put results before profits. By doing the right thing the profits will follow."

MagKinetics will initially place their clean energy technology into roadways, typically on downhill slopes, off-ramps, and other braking road segments. The company's research also indicates that it is possible to tap energy from high speed center roadways as well. In essence, every road & highway in the world is potentially an undeveloped energy asset.

Ultimately, the MagKinetics technology is a new type of renewable energy that could both stabilize world economies and bring about world equality.

If you or your group have an interest in participating in this revolutionary approach to meeting the world's growing energy needs in Dubai or beyond, then please contact
MagKinetics' President Mark Nejmeh at magkinetics2@gmail.com for an executive summary.

Entertainment: Statement of J.K. Rowling on legal proceedings against RDR books

New York, (ANTARA News/PRNewswire-AsiaNet) - Author J.K. Rowling has issued the following statement: "It gives me no pleasure to take legal action, but I am here today because I feel very strongly about an important issue that affects everyone and not just me.

If books that plagiarise other works are permitted, authors, fans and readers stand to lose. There are lots of books in many languages that comment on or criticize Harry Potter, and that's fine. But the book in this case is different. It provides no analysis and virtually no commentary.

It takes far too much and it offers precious little in return. I would just like to add that I am extremely grateful for the incredible support of Harry Potter fans

Business: Arcadia Biosciences, MAHYCO announce licensing agreement

Arcadia Biosciences and MAHYCO Announce Multi-Crop, Multi-Technology Licensing Agreement - Agreement Brings Agricultural and Environmental Improvement Technologies to South Asian Region

Davis, Calif. & Jalna, India - Arcadia Biosciences, Inc., an agricultural technology company focused on developing technologies and products that benefit the environment and human health, and Maharashtra Hybrid Seed Company Ltd. (MAHYCO), one of the largest seed companies in India, today announced that they have concluded a multi-crop, multi-technology research and commercial license agreement focused on India and other South Asian countries.

Under the agreement, MAHYCO will have access to Arcadia's Nitrogen Use Efficiency (NUE) and Salt Tolerance technologies in several key crops in the region.

The comprehensive agreement between Arcadia and MAHYCO involves bringing Arcadia's advanced agricultural technologies to a region that is experiencing rapid population growth and is challenged by difficult agricultural and environmental conditions.

With more than 1.1 billion people, India represents about 17 percent of the world's population, although it occupies just over 2 per cent of the world's land mass. Based on the current growth rate, India is expected to overtake China in 2030 as the world's most populated country.

Concurrent with this rapid population growth, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) estimates that 221 million people in India, or about one-fifth of the population, are undernourished. As such, there is significant pressure on Indian farmers to increase agricultural productivity.

Agriculture is also the second-leading source of global greenhouse gas, and nitrogen fertilizer represents a significant cause of these emissions. Using only existing technologies, Indian farmers will need to claim more land to grow crops, which uses more nitrogen fertilizer and scarce water resources to achieve much-needed higher yields.

Arcadia's NUE technology can significantly reduce nitrogen fertilizer requirements, and Salt-Tolerance technology can reduce the need for fresh water resources for irrigation. The expected result is high-yielding crops with a lower impact on the environment.

"Globally, there are significant challenges associated with providing an adequate amount of food in ways that minimize negative impacts on the environment. India is one of the places where these challenges are evident and require serious action," said Eric Rey, president and CEO of Arcadia.

"MAHYCO's expertise in developing crop varieties for the region and marketing new seed technologies to both large and small South Asian farmers can play a central role in the region's ability to feed its growing population. The need for South Asian farmers to produce more food to keep pace with population growth will continue to put pressure on local fresh water resources to irrigate crops and increase the need for nitrogen fertilizer, a major global contributor to greenhouse gas emissions. Arcadia's technologies enable the development of crops that either reduce agriculture's contribution to climate change or adapt to the stresses that climate change places on agriculture."

"Nitrogen use efficiency will bring great benefits to Indian farmers by providing better yield under existing conditions or leading to lowering of nitrogen fertilizer applications in some areas and still maintaining yields. More and more Indian soils are affected by various abiotic stresses and this technology holds promise to allow cultivation even in these adverse conditions. MAHYCO is looking forward to bringing these technologies for the benefit of the Indian farmer," said Usha Zehr for MAHYCO.

About Arcadia Biosciences, Inc.

Based in Davis, Calif., with additional facilities in Seattle, Wash. and Phoenix, Ariz., Arcadia Biosciences is an agricultural biotechnology company focused on the development of agricultural products that improve the environment and enhance human health. Technology: Shin-Etsu Chemical develops a thermally conductive, double-sided

Shin-Etsu Chemical develops a thermally conductive, double-sided silicone ahesive tape New tape provides both superior heat sissipation and long-term reliability

Tokyo (BUSINESS WIRE) - Shin-Etsu Chemical Co., Ltd. (President: Chihiro Kanagawa; Head Office:Tokyo), has developed and begun to market a thermally conductive silicone double-sided adhesive tape, TC-20SAS, which provides both superior heat dissipation and long-term reliability.

This product possesses higher reliability because of its characteristics of superior thermal resistance and excellent electrical insulation properties in addition to its high thermal conductivity of 0.7 W/mK and its good adhesiveness.
Moreover, it is superior in glue-on workability and re-workability.

The thickness of this new silicone adhesive tape is 200um and its standard size is 300mm x 400mm. Thus, it can respond to desired size. The start of mass-production is scheduled for June 2008.

Currently, the double-sided silicone adhesive tape products on the market are mostly acrylic resin types. These acrylic resin-type products are limited in their applications due to the deterioration that occurs in adhesive layers at high temperatures. Shin-Etsu's newly developed adhesive tape product is a silicone type product, and accordingly, it can be used in a wide-temperature range of -40C +150C and is also superior in long term reliability.

This new adhesive tape product will be exhibited at Shin-Etsu Chemical's booth at the 10th Thermal Engineering Exhibition on heat management at TECHNO-FRONTIER 2008, Japan's largest Electronic and Mechatronic parts exhibition (Organizer: the Japan Management Association), which will be held for three days from April 16 to 18, 2008 at the Makuhari Messe (Convention Center) in Chiba Prefecture, near Tokyo.

In addition to this new thermally conductive, double-sided silicone adhesive tape, Shin-Etsu Chemical has a line up of various other types of thermally conductive silicone materials such as rubber sheet, grease, gel and liquid rubber products that possess excellent adhesiveness.

Depending on the application, it is possible to meet various heat-dissipation requirements, and Shin-Etsu will continue to pursue the development of products to meet the future needs of a market that will have even more sophisticated needs in the coming years.

Silicones are highly functional materials that combine characteristics of both organic and inorganic materials. They are materials that provide high value-added features for products in a wide range of industrial fields, including electrical and electronic applications, automobiles, construction, cosmetics and chemicals.

* About heat-dissipating thermally conductive materials: Heat-dissipating thermal interface materials are thermally conductive compounds, which are fitted between the heat-generating unit, such as a computer's CPU, and the heatsink. They make it possible to effectively conduct the heat to the heatsink.

Demand for thermally conductive silicone materials is expanding for such heat-dissipation applications as in the growing number of electronic components in automobiles and LEDs as well as in PCs, home appliances, and electronic game units.

Moreover, due to the increasing miniaturization and higher performance of electronic devices, the need for more effective heat-dissipation materials is further increasing.
