Carbon Credit Environmental takes 2008 Olympics slogan literally

Detroit, Michigan, (ANTARA News/PRNewswire-AsiaNet) - Carbon Credit Environmental Services (CCES) has committed to offsetting the greenhouse gas and carbon dioxide (GHG, CO2) emissions produced from several upcoming events; The 2008 Olympics in Beijing, The Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix, and The Woodward Dream Cruise as well working with The Detroit River Regatta Association for The APBA Gold Cup Boat Races and Upland Hills Ecological Awareness Center for the Earth Day Expo at Oakland University.

CCES has interest from corporations as far away as Japan, Dubai, China and Europe as well as North America. Officials from CCES consider the threat of global warming a challenge for every individual and corporation, and urge action to secure the future for all generations.

"Offsetting can be accomplished with alternative energy projects, wind, solar, methane recovery for energy use. Just think about it, an alternative energy providing clean water, and clean air for ONE WORLD," says CCES President Mike Dolkowski.

CCES has patented a LCA/GHG, CO2 analysis to assist corporations to provide a GHG, CO2 neutral product. This certification program has improved the bottom line of corporations while making their commitment to truly be "GREEN".

"Just think," you can purchase a bar of soap, candy bar, automobile, etc. that has a GHG, CO2 certification logo knowing this product has funded clean energy projects and reforestation projects worldwide. Everyone needs to be part of the global effort to offset an estimated 848,219,178 pounds of GHG, CO2 emissions from these events," Dolkowski concluded.

Carbon Credit Environment Services has also created a "Carbon Neutral" travel site that anyone can use to make travel arrangements and the travel will be offset by CCES: www.ccestravel.com

Infor helps organizations reduce energy costs

Infor Helps Organizations Reduce Energy Costs and Achieve Sustainability Goals Infor EAM Asset Sustainability Edition Brings Energy Efficiency Capabilities to Enterprise Asset Management

Singapore (BUSINESS WIRE) - Infor today announced Infor EAM Asset Sustainability Edition, an enterprise software solution that allows organizations to integrate energy consumption and emissions management into their asset management practices. Infor EAM Asset Sustainability Edition enables organizations to substantially reduce energy costs, while minimizing carbon emissions and the impact of their operations on the environment.

Established benchmarks from the U.S. Department of Energy and industry sources demonstrate that facilities and manufacturers can reduce energy consumption up to 20 percent through maintenance programs that focus on energy consumption and efficiency. Infor EAM Asset Sustainability Edition factors energy consumption into total asset performance, providing a more complete understanding of the true costs to operate and maintain an asset. The software goes beyond just energy management, factoring in an asset's consumption of any of the WAGES commodities (water, air, gas, electricity, and steam), as well as monitoring of fugitive emissions, like ozone-depleting refrigerant gases.

"There is no question that high energy costs are a drag on organizational budgets and that inefficient energy practices have a negative impact on our environment," said John Murphy, director of Industry & Product Marketing for Infor EAM solutions. "Infor EAM Asset Sustainability Edition is a groundbreaking solution that helps address these issues. With this solution, organizations can take a strategic approach to energy efficiency, using software automation to implement practices that promote sustainability and profitability."

Organizations across all sectors face soaring energy costs from basic utilities, such as lighting and HVAC, to the assets that enable their critical business operations, like manufacturing equipment and refrigeration coolers. In addition to reining in high energy costs, organizations are seeking to reduce their energy consumption as part of sustainability initiatives to minimize carbon emissions and offset the impact of their operations on the environment.

Infor EAM Asset Sustainability Edition automates the processes associated with managing assets and their related resource consumption.

It tracks the consumption of individual assets in real-time, evaluates the data against user-defined conditions, and alerts users to anomalies when assets exceed acceptable performance thresholds. The solution also elevates decision-making by incorporating consumption and emission data into key performance indicators and reports. Program managers, for example, can generate reports that provide macro-level analysis of CO2 emissions and drill down into the performance of each asset through easy-to-use graphical dashboards.

The software also enables companies to benchmark the performance of a specific asset to determine the cost of maintaining it at current energy consumption levels versus replacing it with a newer, more energy efficient asset. This functionality enables organizations to make strategic decisions, factoring in energy consumption costs, the price and energy specifications of a replacement, and the projected return-on-investment date.

Infor EAM Asset Sustainability Edition is a web-architected application that can be deployed on-premises at the customer site or hosted by Infor. The software receives energy consumption data through asset sub-metering, either through existing sub-metering electronics systems or other third-party sensors, and can use wireless mesh networks for communications.

Solland Solar: natural gas revenues for clean energy

Heerlen, (ANTARA News/PRNewswire-AsiaNet) - The government should use the revenues from the sale of natural gas to speed up the changeover to clean, renewable forms of energy. In doing so it will choose even more explicitly in favour of reducing CO2 emissions.

The transition to sustainable energy will also make the Netherlands less dependent on politically unstable regions such as Russia and the Middle East, which are currently the key suppliers of oil and gas.

This was the assertion of Gosse Boxhoorn, CEO of Solland Solar, the Netherlands' largest producer of solar cells. Boxhoorn made this plea on Thursday during the opening of Solland Solar's new production hall in Heerlen. The new hall will enable Solland Solar to treble production, from 60 MWp/a to 170 MWp/a.

"By focusing more on clean forms of energy (solar, wind, water), the government is realising a more balanced energy policy," argued Gosse Boxhoorn. "The Netherlands currently has some EUR 170 billion worth of natural gas still untapped. That money should not be allowed to 'disappear' into general resources, but rather be used to intensify the efforts towards renewable energy. The government realises that an alternative is needed for oil and gas, but then concludes that coal is the answer. And we are not talking about one, but five coal-fired power stations at once. Given the CO2 emissions, this is not where we want to be heading."

High-performance solar cell

The high oil price, peaking at more than USD 100 a barrel at times, undoubtedly serves to promote solar energy as an increasingly plausible alternative. Moreover, Solland Solar manages to extract more and more energy from its cells and will start production of a high-performance cell, with an efficiency of some 16 percent, before the end of the year. This is an increase of one percent compared to existing cells; a significant improvement for this sector. The new cell will also help reduce the costs of producing solar panels.

Production expansion

The new production hall is a mere pit stop along the route for Solland Solar, which has seen dramatic growth since its establishment at the end of 2005. The solar cell manufacturer intends to increase production to 500 MWp/a in 2010. Another two production halls will be built to that end; the relevant subsidy has already been approved by the Ministry of Economic Affairs. Solland Solar had applied for a subsidy of EUR 125 million.

About Solland Solar

Solland Solar (www.sollandsolar.com), winner of the FD Gazellen Award 2007 and FEM Business Rising Star Award 2007, is a Dutch-German manufacturer of solar cells (photovoltaic cells). When production started at the end of 2005, Solland Solar had a capacity of 20 MWp/a. After the new production hall came into operation, the capacity was increased to 60 MWp/a, with a view to reaching 500 MWp/a in 2010. By then the number of employees will also have increased to some 1,000 (2008: 400). Since February 2007, Delta NV and subsidiary Sunergy BV of Middelburg have been majority shareholders in Solland Solar.

Note to the editors:

Gosse Boxhoorn will be available on location for interviews on Thursday, 24 January. For more information by phone, please contact Wendy Kleijnen (+31-06-46324304), who can also assist in arranging telephone interviews.

Substantial CO2 reduction due to new technology

Heerenveen, (ANTARA News/PRNewswire-AsiaNet) - Today, the Dutch company Oxycom launched on a global scale an energy efficient air-conditioning system. Oxycom combines the Oxycell(R), a patented air exchanger, with existing air-conditioning applications.

This new hybrid system cools air more efficiently than all other existing models on the global market, allowing buildings to save between 50 per cent and 60 per cent on their energy bills for cooling and ventilation. The system ventilates up to 100 per cent, ensuring a healthy indoor climate. These figures are validated in tests at Intertek ETL Semko in Cortland, USA, one of the worlds leading scientific institutes for testing ventilation and air-conditioning systems.

According to the Energy Statistics from the US Government(1) 16 per cent of the total U.S. electricity consumption is used for air conditioning. "From this 16 per cent, the Oxycell(R) based air conditioning system has the potential of saving more than 50 per cent," says CEO of Oxycom, E. van der Ende.

Worldwide applications

Oxycom aims to enrol the Oxycell(R) into the American market first, where CO2 emissions are amongst the highest in the world. President Bush(2) announced the intention to reduce American CO2 emissions by 18 per cent in 2012. The introduction of the Oxycell(R) in new and existing air-conditioning and ventilation systems would support this goal effectively.

Low investment costs

As well as substantial energy savings and environmental compliance, the new hybrid system will be competitively priced, making it appealing to end-users to embrace it. Oxycom offers licences to manufacturers in the air-conditioning and ventilation industry.

"Now that the earth is getting overloaded and fossil fuel prices are increasing rapidly, technology should step in with stunning solutions, of which the Oxycell(R) is a good example," says Van der Ende. For more information: www.oxy-com.com

Reduction of carbon footprint at TNT Express

Reduction of Carbon Footprint at TNT Express With Help of More Efficient Planning of Collection and Delivery

'S-Hertogenbosch (ANTARA News/PRNewswire-AsiaNet) - The worldwide express delivery services provider TNT Express has signed an agreement with Quintiq to take further steps in its effort to reduce its carbon footprint. Through the use of the advanced planning software of Quintiq in the collection and delivery of parcels TNT Express hopes to further give shape to its program called "Planet Me" with the aim to reduce the emission of CO2. The Quintiq system will replace a large number of discrete planning systems that are now used throughout TNT Express's 900 depots in the world.

With the new Quintiq system TNT Express will support its collection and delivery process worldwide of 3.5 million parcels and documents. The planning solution will be used to create and maintain depot profiles and allocate parcels to rounds and drivers in an optimal way. By adopting Quintiq into the Common Systems strategy TNT Express will be able to improve productivity and save on managing a variety of different planning solutions. In addition it will be able to improve tracking and tracing as well as customer service.

Initially TNT Express planned to develop a new customized planning solution in-house as it was not convinced that a standard solution was able to support all its processes and meet all its requirements. Nevertheless Quintiq was able to demonstrate that its software suite for advanced planning and scheduling could deal with all TNT Express' issues.

The Quintiq real-time application suite offers company-wide transparency and access via interfaces for viewing all process-related decisions. Its wide range of functions allows users to react quickly to short-notice changes and contingencies. By making optimal use of each employee's skills, availability and productivity, no additional resources need to be scheduled as a buffer, thus enabling organizations to save time, reduce labour costs and increase customer satisfaction levels. Real-time management reporting permits ongoing monitoring based on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

"TNT Express is very pleased to work together with Quintiq on improving its planning of collection and delivery, thereby reducing our carbon footprint," says Nigel Barton, Director Strategic Operations at TNT Express. "With the choice forQuintiq we now have a platform for all our IT planning applications within TNT Express and can thereby also increase our customer service levels."

"We are delighted that TNT Express has selected our suite for its planning process," says Arjen Heeres, COO at Quintiq. "TNT Express' choice underlines our ability to support companies with worldwide operations with their increasingly complex planning puzzle."
