Technology: Wavestream obtains type approval from the China for block upconverters

Wavestream Corporation obtains type approval from the People's Republic of China on its 16- to 40-watt matchbox series of block upconverters
Radio transmission equipment certification standard marks major milestone for wavestream as its enables the company to sell a variety of its ku-band block upconverters in China

Singapore (PRIME NEWSWIRE) - Wavestream Corporation (www.wavestream.com), a manufacturer of compact, highly efficient solid-state power amplifiers, today announced that it has obtained Type Approval from the People's Republic of China on its 16- to 40-Watt Matchbox Series of Ku-Band Block Upconverters (BUC), which meet the provisions of the country's Radio Regulations.

Wavestream worked with its sales representative Beijing Sat Trac Telecommunications, located in Beijing, China, to obtain this important certification standard, which allows the company to sell a variety of its products in China, including its 25- and 40-Watt Ku-Band Matchbox Block Upconverters, and 16-Watt Ku-Band Matchbox Fanless BUC.

Wavestream is showing several of the Matchbox Series Block Upconverters and its new 500-Watt C-band line of solid-state power amplifiers this week at CommunicAsia, June 17-20, 2008 in Stand 6J1-01 at the Singapore Expo in Singapore.

"Obtaining Type Approval from the People's Republic of China is a very important milestone," said Chris Branscum, CEO of Wavestream. "Each product sold independently within China must have this certification. We are pleased that several of our Ku-band products have been approved for sale in China, which we believe will further help boost our international sales efforts, especially in Asia. We want to thank our representative in China, Beijing Sat Trac Telecommunications, for helping us through this process."

Technology: Wavestream introduces 500-watt C-band SSPA for satellite communications

Wavestream Corporation Announces 500-Watt C-band Solid State Power Amplifiers (SSPA) ideal for satellite and troposcatter communications
Company showcases high-efficiency solid-state power amplifiers at CommunicAsia in Singapore; expands product portfolio with new C-band products

Singapore (PRIME NEWSWIRE) - Wavestream Corporation (www.wavestream.com), a manufacturer of compact, highly efficient solid-state power amplifiers, today announced that it will introduce its new line of 500-watt C-Band solid-state power amplifiers (SSPA) for a variety of commercial and military applications at CommunicAsia, June 17-20, 2008 in Stand 6J1-01 at the Singapore Expo in Singapore. The 500-watt C-Band product line is based on a highly efficient SSPA and is a unique offering for satellite and troposcatter communications.

Using Wavestream's Spatial Power Advantage(tm) technologies, the company has been able to pack 500 watts of solid-state output power at 1dB compression into a rugged unit. The product line's form factor and weight make it ideal for replacing
tube-based amplifiers of up to 1,000 watts.

"With the introduction of our new 500-watt C-band product line, we are expanding the scope of our business from the Ka-and Ku-bands and offering our customers a larger portfolio of solutions, which now also address a variety of satcom and troposcatter C-band frequency applications," said Chris Branscum, CEO of Wavestream. "Our new 500-watt C-Band troposcatter SSPA enables a transportable troposcatter terminal system versus a fixed location system, significantly increasing the mobility of these systems for military efforts. The high-power capabilities of our 500-watt C-Band satcom version make it ideal for satellite communications applications in tropical locations such as Asia, North Africa and the Middle East. We believe the addition of this C-Band product line will help to better serve our current customers."

Technology: Wavestream introduces 80-watt Ku-band matchbox block upconverter

Wavestream Corporation introduces 80-watt Ku-band matchbox block upconverter ideal for satellite news gathering services
Company debuts high-efficiency solid-state power amplifier at communicAsia in Singapore

Singapore (PRIME NEWSWIRE) - Wavestream Corporation (www.wavestream.com), a manufacturer of compact, highly efficient solid-state power amplifiers, today announced that it will showcase its new 80-watt Ku-Band Matchbox Block Upconverter (BUC) for a variety of commercial and military satellite communications applications at CommunicAsia, June 17-20, 2008 in Stand 6J1-01 at the Singapore Expo in Singapore.
The 80-watt Ku BUC is a highly efficient solid-state power amplifier (SSPA) and is ideal for satellite news gathering (SNG) applications, such as those highlighted at CommunicAsia.

Using Wavestream's Spatial Power Advantage(tm) technologies, the company has been able to pack 80 watts of output power at 1dB compression into a rugged 25-pound unit that can be mounted directly on the feed arm of medium aperture antennas, maximizing the power at the feed and further enhancing system-level efficiency. Measuring just 15" x 8" x 5", the compact BUC provides ample linear power for most high-definition satellite news gathering. Similar to Wavestream's other Matchbox Series BUC units, the new 80-watt Ku-band BUC provides the highest linear power per pound per unit volume in a versatile, easy-to-use solution.

"As satellite news trucks are getting smaller and many broadcast news outlets are looking at ways in which they can quickly send multiple reporters with their own equipment to breaking news scenes, we believe that the SNG market will eagerly adopt our 80-watt BUC," said Chris Branscum, CEO of Wavestream. "Given its compact size and benefits including power draw of less than 600W AC, which is starkly lower than other SSPAs, as well as soft-fail mode and graceful degradation, our new 80-watt BUC is poised to replace TWTAs especially in SNG environments. In addition, its high-efficiency and high-reliability characteristics make the Wavestream 80-watt BUC well-suited for a growing number of military applications for the Ku band."

Wavestream's 80-watt BUC provides high reliability to minimize life-cycle costs even in the most demanding applications and extreme environments. In addition, the BUC includes a choice of frequency bands (14.0 - 14.5 GHz or 13.75 - 14.5 GHz) with no performance degradation, L-band to Ku-band upconversion, serial or Ethernet monitor and control, adjustable attenuation and output power monitoring.
