Business: Heidrick & Struggles opens office in Thailand

Expansion targets demand for multinational and in-country executives

Bangkok (ANTARA News/PRNewswire-AsiaNet) - The world's premier executive search and leadership consulting firm, Heidrick & Struggles International, Inc. (Nasdaq: HSII), has announced the opening of an office in Bangkok, Thailand, as part of its ongoing expansion in the Asia Pacific region.

Heidrick & Struggles has 14 offices across Asia Pacific, in Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, Singapore and Taiwan.

The firm reported an increase in net revenue across the Asia Pacific region of 58.8 per cent to $US78.6 million for the year to December 31, 2007 or about 51 per cent on a constant currency basis.

Partner-in-charge in Bangkok is Michael Ascot, who has served in country manager and senior executive roles across Asia. In his recent career, Michael has focused on executive search and coaching.

Ascot has also held the post of Adjunct Professor of International Marketing for the Masters in Marketing degree program at Thammasat University in Bangkok.

Regional managing partner Gerry Davis says that the opening of the Bangkok office will address the "significant demand" for multinational and in-country executives.

"Michael is a 22-year veteran in Asia, with a well-established network in Hong Kong, Thailand, The Philippines, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam. His background in leadership advisory services will also add to our existing activities in this complementary business to executive search," Davis says.

"Heidrick & Struggles aims to redefine leadership with innovative offerings in succession planning, talent management, team assessment as well as our core executive search expertise. Heidrick & Struggles adds new partner to Life Sciences and Consumer Practices in Japan

Tokyo (ANTARA News/PRNewswire-AsiaNet) - Heidrick & Struggles International, Inc. (Nasdaq: HSII), the world's premier executive search and leadership consulting firm, today announced that Walter L. Ames has joined the firm's Life Sciences and Consumer Practices as a Partner, based in the Tokyo office. Ames specializes in search work for pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device and diagnostic companies; he also conducts searches in the consumer goods, retail and entertainment industries.

"Walt has lived and worked in Japan on seven different occasions for a total of more than 20 years. With his extensive experience -- including senior-level exposure at some of the most successful companies in the world -- he is a tremendous addition to our team serving clients in Japan and throughout the region," said Daniel Edwards, Partner-In-Charge, Tokyo Office.

Ames, 61, joins Heidrick & Struggles from another global executive search firm where he was a member of the Executive Committee, Managing Director of the Tokyo Office and Regional Head of North Asia. Previously he was a Partner in the Los Angeles office of another global search firm, after beginning his executive search industry career in 1995 in the Tokyo office of a global search firm.

Prior to that Ames was an Associate Professor of anthropology at Brigham Young University. He also served for three years in Nagoya, Japan, as President of the Japan Nagoya Mission of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- day Saints.
Earlier, Ames founded and was President of Monitor Company Japan, a Cambridge, Massachusetts-based strategy consulting firm. He also served as a Manager with Bain & Company, where he was among the three founders of the Tokyo office.

Ames is Co-chairman of the Foreign Direct Investment Committee of the American Chamber of Commerce in Japan and serves on the National Advisory Council of the College of Social Sciences at Brigham Young University.

He earned a J.D. from the Harvard Law School, a Ph.D. and master's degree in anthropology from the University of Michigan, and a bachelor's degree in anthropology from Brigham Young University.

Heidrick & Struggles Japan reports 33.3 per cent increase in net revenue

Private Equity Helps Drive Search Firm's Expansion in Japan

Tokyo (ANTARA News/PRNewswire-AsiaNet) - The Tokyo office of the world's premier executive search firm, Heidrick & Struggles, has reported a 33.3 per cent increase in net revenue to US$11.9 million for 2007.

Partner-in-charge Daniel Edwards says: "We raised the profile of the firm in Japan by working with private equity firms on some of the largest corporate transactions that were considered in 2007. The recent hire of Toshifumi Mori, a senior executive from Mitsubishi Corporation, has also strengthened our ability to connect with the senior Japanese business community."

Heidrick & Struggles, which has offices in more than 60 cities around the world, increased its full year net revenue in the Asia Pacific region by 58.8 per cent to US$78.6 million, or approximately 51 per cent on a constant currency basis.
Operating income of US$15.9 million increased 20.1 per cent over 2006 and the operating margin was 20.3 per cent, compared with 26.8 per cent in 2006.

In the Asia Pacific region, the firm has offices in Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, China, India, Korea, Thailand, Taiwan, Australia and New Zealand.

Globally, for the year ended December 31, 2007, Heidrick & Struggles reported consolidated net revenue of US$619.7 million, an increase of 29.5 percent from US$478.5 million in 2006.

In 2008, the company expects worldwide consolidated net revenue of between US$650 and US$670 million, representing growth of between 5 per cent and 8 percent over 2007 net
revenue. The company is targeting a 2008 full-year operating margin of 13 per cent.

Heidrick & Struggles Singapore reports 72.1 per cent revenue rise

'Regional Hub' Status Helps Drive Executive Search Business

Singapore (ANTARA News/PRNewswire-AsiaNet) - The Singapore office of the world's premier search firm, Heidrick & Struggles, today reported a 72.1 per cent increase in revenue to US$10.85 million for 2007, driven by escalating demand for senior executives.

Partner-in-charge Alicia Yi says that with its global network, Heidrick & Struggles works with multinationals and local companies to secure international talent.

"Singapore continues to lead in attracting corporations and executives with regional mandates," Yi says. "We are seeing significant growth in consumer, life sciences, education and hospitality sectors. The status of Singapore as a regional hub for global companies, and an attractive tax environment helps to attract international talent."

Yi says that a new principal, Steve Stine, is working in emerging industries such as "clean technology," health care, supply chain and gaming.
