Bunkspeed transforms Chrysler`s CAD data into lifelike images

Chrysler cites Bunkspeed 3D rendering tools as 'key ingredient' responsible for reinventing the auto company's marketing imagery process

Los Angeles, (ANTARA News/PRNewswire-AsiaNet) - Bunkspeed, Inc. announced today that Chrysler Group has selected its 3D rendering applications to turn CAD data into professional-quality marketing imagery.

Among other benefits, Chrysler expects to significantly decrease ad production costs.

Using Bunkspeed's software, Chrysler's Engineering Graphic Illustration Group (EGIG) can now generate sleek photographic scenery out of 3D models created in the auto company's CAD applications.

A range of colors, materials, and lighting effects can be applied, resulting in realistic, production-ready graphic imagery for print and web advertising.

Producing images in-house is a distinct shift away from the traditional process of hiring creative agencies to produce shoots of real automobiles in real environments, and paying on a per-image basis. In contrast, Bunkspeed's software requires no particular expertise in creating professional-quality photographic imagery, and comes with a learning curve as short as fifteen minutes.

Scenes can be manipulated in any direction and reproduced as many times as needed. Auto industry marketers can feature multiple makes and models in an ad, minus the high transportation costs typically associated with live locations.

"The Chrysler Group is undergoing significant changes when it comes to the process of creating computer-generated, photo-realistic, vehicle renderings for marketing purposes," notes John M. Borowski, Manager of Chrysler's EGIG Group.

He continues, "The use of Bunkspeed's software has been one of the key ingredients of this metamorphosis by giving us the ability to quickly and efficiently create high-quality imagery at a fraction of the cost experienced in the past."

Borowski also observes that the software's short learning curve ontributes to a quick return on its sale price: "Due to a very intuitive user interface, our graphic artists became quickly proficient with the software. We began to realize savings almost immediately," he concludes.

Michael Check, Bunkspeed's Automotive & Transportation Division President, states, "We are extremely pleased to help Chrysler further capitalize on their valuable set of CAD data. This sale is a great example of how Bunkspeed rendering tools can align marketing, engineering, and design departments to work together through the use of existing company resources."

Bunkspeed is a platinum sponsor of the upcoming CGAM conference (www.cgamconference.com) in Hollywood, California, March 10 - 11. Stop by booth # 115 to experience Bunkspeed and "CGI made simple".

Michael Check joins Bunkspeed to lead Auto & Transportation biz

Industry veteran joins Bunkspeed team; sees company's rendering technology as 'provoking major change' in digital design

Los Angeles (ANTARA News/PRNewswire-AsiaNet) - Bunkspeed, Inc. announced today that Michael Check has joined the company as President of its Automotive and Transportation business. His focus will be to broaden Bunkspeed's already expansive roster of transportation customers, which includes Ford Motor Company, Chrysler, BMW, Pininfarina, Nissan, Honda, and others.

With over 20 years experience, Mr. Check brings to Bunkspeed a deep understanding of the design process and a highly regarded industry standing. Prior positions include General Manager of the Americas at Alias|Wavefront, and General Manager, North America, at ICEM. He also co-founded The Underground World Corporation, a design services company.

Mr. Check chose Bunkspeed because of the company's bold vision -- and nimble implementation -- of 3D rendering for all.

"Bunkspeed clearly listens to what their customers want and have taken the 'black art' out of 3D rendering," Mr. Check says. "Their technology is provoking major change in the digital design process."

The company's HyperDrive Automotive Collection bridges the gap between design, engineering, and marketing. In just minutes, even users with little design experience can apply paints, materials, and lighting to models created in popular CAD applications. Objects can be manipulated in any direction and inserted in any number of environments.

The resulting realistic look is practically indistinguishable from a physical model, allowing companies to use their own resources, instead of expensive CGI houses, to create marketing imagery.

"Over the years, Mike has closed important deals that, without a doubt, have advanced digital design technology in the automotive arena. We're looking forward to Mike continuing this legacy at Bunkspeed," states Philip Lunn, Bunkspeed CEO.

Michael Check is joining Bunkspeed in January 2008, and will be located in Detroit, Michigan.

Chrysler and Nissan confirm OEM product agreement

Auburn Hills, Mich., (ANTARA News//PRNewswire-AsiaNet) - Chrysler LLC and Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., today announced an agreement for Nissan to supply Chrysler with a new car for limited distribution in South America.

Based on the Nissan Versa sedan, the new car will be supplied to Chrysler on an Original Equipment Manufacture (OEM) basis in 2009.

The OEM supply agreement is the second product exchange between the two corporations, with Nissan affiliate JATCO already supplying Chrysler with transmissions since 2004.

"This kind of tactical partnership allows us to maximize product offerings yet minimize costly investments -- such as new plant infrastructure, tooling and R&D," said Chrysler LLC President and Vice Chairman Tom LaSorda. "This partnership will give Chrysler nearly immediate access to vehicle segments in which we do not currently compete."

"Nissan has a successful track-record of win-win product exchanges and we are pleased to be entering into this second agreement with Chrysler," said Carlos Tavares, Executive Vice President, Nissan Motor Company.

The two companies have also agreed to maintain an open dialogue to explore further product-sharing opportunities.

Chrysler LLC, headquartered in Auburn Hills, Mich., produces Chrysler, Jeep(R), Dodge and Mopar(R) brand vehicles and products. Its product lineup features some of the world's most recognizable vehicles, including the Chrysler 300, Jeep Wrangler and Dodge Charger. The Chrysler Foundation -- the primary source of charitable grants made by Chrysler -- annually supports hundreds of charitable organizations with an emphasis on community growth and enrichment, education, arts and culture, public policy, youth development and disaster relief programs throughout the United States and, increasingly, the world. Chrysler is a unit of Cerberus Capital Management.

Nissan Motor Company generated global net revenues of 10.468 trillion yen in 2006. Nissan is present in all major global auto markets selling a comprehensive range of cars, pickup trucks, SUVs and light commercial vehicles under the Nissan and Infiniti brands. Nissan employs over 180,000 people worldwide.

Under the Nissan Value-Up business plan, the company continues to focus on long-term sustainable and profitable growth driven by three commitments:

-- To maintain top level of operating profit margin among global automakers
-- To achieve global sales of 4.2 million units in 2009
-- 20% return on invested capital on average over the course of the plan
